Gautam Gambhir to contest from East Delhi
A month after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the saffron party fielded Gautam Gambhir, the cricketer-turned-politician, from East Delhi seat for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections on Monday.
Ever since he retired from cricket in December 2018, Gautam Gambhir has been very vocal about his support to the ruling party at the Centre, and has often lauded and defended the policies and decisions taken by the BJP.

2 arrested from Gujarat for firing outside Salman Khan's home
Two people including a man who allegedly opened fire outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence in Mumbai have been arrested from Gujarat, police said on Tuesday. The two people - Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) - both residents of Bihar, were nabbed late Monday night from Mata No Madh village in Gujarat's Kutch district. Based on technical surveillance, joint teams of the Kutch-West and Mumbai police nabbed the duo, he said. They were handed over to the Mumbai police as the complaint is registered there. At around 5 am on Sunday, two motorcycle-borne people fired four rounds outside 58-year-old Khan's house at the Galaxy Apartment in Bandra area of Mumbai and fled the spot.
