2 terrorists killed in encounter in J&K's Shopian

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Sunday morning.

A search operation was launched by the Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces in Rebban area of Zainapora on the basis of a tip about the presence of militants in the area.

During the search operation, the security forces were attacked by the terrorists and a gun battle broke out between the two sides. Two terrorists were gunned down during the encounter. Their bodies have been recovered and one AK-47 and a pistol were retrieved from the site, a police official said.

Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said that there was no collateral damage during the encounter.

On Saturday, a 19-year-old boy was killed by the militants in Shopian district. His throat-slit body was found from an orchard area in Hermain village.

A Class 11 student, Nadeem Manzoor, was also abduction and killed by the militants on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday at Niklora in Pulwama.

Hizbul Mujahideen had released a video purportedly showing militants killing Manzoor for reportedly being an Army informer.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows militants pumping a volley of bullets into Nadeem Manzoor, whose body was recovered Friday morning.

Other than this, three men were also abducted by militants from Sadpora Payeen in Shopian district of South Kashmir on Saturday.

The men have been identified as Shahid Ahmad Ganie, Farooq Ahmad Thoker from Sadpora Payeen and Raja Qandur from Manzgam Kulgam.

The three were working at a bakery and were abducted by militants, who came in a car, at gunpoint.
