After the dispute between Indore BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya and municipal officers on Wednesday, the municipal commission on Thursday suspended 21 employees, who were rallying in support of the BJP leader instead of their colleagues during the incident.

According to officials, these employees were identified from the video footage that went viral on Wednesday in which Akash Vijayvargiya was seen thrashing civic officials with a cricket bat.

Few of these officers were even seen at the court with Vijayvargiya after his arrest later in the day.

Municipal Commissioner Ashish Singh terminated 21 municipal employees following the scuffle Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another group of municipal officials were seen protesting against Akash Vijayvargiya on Thursday.

Akash Vijayvargiya, son of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, was arrested and sent to jail on Wednesday for attacking a civic body official with a cricket bat during a demolition of a dilapidated house in his constituency.

An FIR was lodged against Vijayvargiya and 10 others while a local court rejected his bail plea and sent him in judicial custody for two weeks.

When asked why he beat up the officials instead of lodging a complaint, the BJP leader justified his actions and said that he will do the same even in future.

"This is just a beginning. We will finish corruption and hooliganism (of civic officials). Avedan (application), nivedan (request), then dana-dan (thrashing)....this is our line of action," said Vijayvargiya.

During the demolition drive that led to chaos in the area, Akash, who was among protesters, warned civic officials of dire consequences if they did not stop.

Soon, Akash, who is apparently a cricket fan, brought out a cricket bat and started hitting the municipal officer in front of officials, locals and media persons.

The entire incident was recorded on camera.
