Rajasthan: Ashok Gehlot inaugurates Jaipur's 2nd government medical college and hospital
The hospital comes in the race of becoming the most modern hospital in the state. While its construction cost Rs 500 crore, it is expected to have a spinal injury center and super specialty cancer hospital as the add on.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday inaugurated Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) and its affiliated medical college, which is said to cater a large population.
Having an advanced structure, RUHS will be the most modern hospital and medical college in the state.
While its construction cost Rs 500 crore, it is expected to have a spinal injury center and super specialty cancer hospital as the add on.
Currently, the hospital-cum-medical college has 500 beds, and the number is expected to expand approximately to 1,000 beds.
RUHS is the second medical college and hospital in Jaipur, after SMS Medical College and Hospital, making the city first in Rajasthan to have two such hospitals.
Gehlot had laid the building’s foundation stone in 2013 during his previous tenure.
While delivering the inaugural speech at the venue, Gehlot referred to his aspiration of becoming a doctor.
He talked of how he could not get through the Pre-Medical Test. "I could not become a doctor so ended a politician", he said.
"Then I would have seated in a back row as principal of SMS medical College, where Sudhir Bhandari currently is," Gehlot said.
Moreover, Gehlot mentioned that his commitment to strengthen health facilities in the state was the reason behind him choosing politics as a career.
Gehlot also ensured to set up a Regulatory Authority to check exorbitant charges by the private sector hospitals.
Coming on a serious note, Rajasthan Chief Minister Gehlot reiterated his concern about the shifting of faculties of the government medical colleges from one place to the other to fulfill the affiliation requirements of Medical Council of India.
