Cold wave continues to grip Jammu and Kashmir, temp likely to dip further

According to a Met official, "The gradually increasing western disturbance over most parts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh region may cause light to moderate snowfall from January 10 to January 13."

Srinagar is reeling under a severe cold wave and fresh snowfall has further made the temperature dip.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a wet spell for another week.

In Ladakh, the temperature continued to drop several degrees below the freezing point. The region recorded a temperature of minus 15 degrees Celsius and Kargil shivered at minus 18.2 degrees Celsius.

According to a Met official, "The gradually increasing western disturbance over most parts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh region may cause light to moderate snowfall from January 10 to January 13. However, higher reaches of the Kashmir valley in Pir Panjal range is likely to receive heavy to moderate snowfall."

The temperatures during night in Srinagar increased to minus 0.3 degree Celsius due to cloudy sky.

Qazigund, known as the Gateway to Kashmir, recorded a zero degree temperature.

The famous ski resort in North Kashmir, Gulmarg, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 8.5 degrees Celsius, whereas, hill station Pahalgam recorded a minimum of minus 11.4 degrees Celsius.

Jammu was not behind and recorded a minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius followed by Udhampur with a minimum temperature of 2.3 degrees Celsius.
