Delhi: Six arrested for vandalising CATS ambulances in Burari

The incident took place on Saturday when the CATS vehicles were taken to the Burari Transport Authority for a fitness test.

Six people were on Monday arrested for allegedly damaging two Centralised Ambulance Trauma Services (CATS) ambulances at a petrol pump in Burari in Delhi. The accused, reportedly staffers and ex-staffers of CATS, have been identified as Sanjay, Vishal, Amit, Govind Kashyap, Ajay kumar and Neeraj.

The incident took place on Saturday when the CATS vehicles were taken to the Burari Transport Authority for a fitness test.

After the fitness test, two CATS Ambulances came to the petrol pump for fuel. After the drivers of CATS ambulances got busy in payment by cards, six persons came with their faces covered and started quarreling with the drivers and smashed the windscreen.

Following the incident, an FIR was registered at PS Wazirabad and an investigation was taken up. The CCTV footage of the area was recovered and arrested six people by identifying them.

After interrogation, the accused were produced before a court and sent to Tihar jail for 14 days.

Prior to this incident, similar incidents against CATS ambulances were reported from different parts of Delhi and in all incidents, the perpetrators had covered their faces, making it difficult to establish their identities.

The sustained interrogation of accused persons revealed that they belonged to the striking section of protestors and wanted to damage the CATS vehicles.
