Gujarat on high alert after IB warns of terrorist movement along state border

The SP added that the Gujarat-MP border was sealed at several places as a precautionary measure.

A high alert has been sounded in Gujarat after the Intelligence Bureau warned of the movement of terrorists along the state’s border with Madhya Pradesh.

We have received an intelligence input about the movement of terrorists. We have also received a directive from the police headquarters in Bhopal following which intensive checking of those crossing the border of two states has been started, SP Jhabua Vineet Jain said.

The SP added that the Gujarat-MP border was sealed at several places as a precautionary measure.

Madhya Pradesh state Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Kailash Makwana has also reportedly directed all district SPs to remain alert. Districts bordering Gujarat and Rajasthan have also been placed on high alert.

According to the Madhya Pradesh Police, the intelligence bureau received input on the movement of four Afghan terrorists following which CRPF was deployed in Ratanpur area bordering Gujarat.

We are maintaining a state of high alert. All vehicles entering Madhya Pradesh from Gujarat, particularly those entering from the Dahod side, are being thoroughly checked. The input from the Gujarat ATS that four terrorists could have entered the region is being taken seriously, SP Jhabua Vineet Jain said.

The ATS unit of Gujarat has also prepared a sketch of an Afghani terrorist which has been sent to all check-posts on the border of the two states.
