Devotees of Lord Datta in Maharashtra expressed happiness as Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Datta temples in his home state Gujarat on his 69th birthday.

Speaking to India Today TV, advocate Praveen Singh Pardeshi, former president of Dagadu Sheth Ganesh Temple and Lord Datta devotee, said, "We are very pleased that Prime Minister Modi in his very busy schedule took out time and has worshiped Lord Datta."

"By bowing in front of Datta bhagwan, our PM must have definitely sought blessing for India and also for Maharashtra," he said.

Lord Datta devotees in Pune said that there are many followers in the state. It is estimated that out of Maharashtra's 14 crore population, around 70 per cent worship Lord Datta.

Speaking to India Today TV, one follower from Pune said PM cares for "one and all".

Lord Datta worshippers in Pune also said that PM Modi's visit to Datta temples in Gujarat just before assembly elections in Maharashtra will benefit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
