Haryana: Mother consumes poison after school expels daughter molested by teacher

A woman resorted to attempting suicide by consuming poison after her daughter's school expelled for accusing a teacher of molestation.

A woman attempted to commit suicide after her daughter was expelled from school. The girl was expelled from the school for allegedly spoiling the institute's environment as she accused a teacher of molesting her.

The girl, a Class 12 student, studying in a school in Haryana's Bhiwani had alleged that she was molested by a teacher, identified as Ranjit. The girl's mother, who also worked at the same school along with her husband, claimed that the school refused to take any action against the accused teacher and instead expelled her daughter as well as her son who is in Class 4.

The girl's parents were also allegedly fired from the school.

The mother said that she had tried to approach the authorities and local politicians but when no one helped her, she decided to commit suicide.

The girl's mother consumed poison on Thursday at the Bhiwani District Education Office. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. The mother was out of danger after treatment.

The victim's parents had registered an FIR against the teacher and he was arrested by the police.

The school management is also accused of disobeying the orders of allowing the girl to attend classes.

Confirming the allegations, District Education Officer Bhiwani Ajit Singh Sheoran said that the school authorities were directed to admit the girl. However, they disobeyed.
