Rajasthan's Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his government have decided to remove curfew from the walled city area in the state's capital city of Jaipur. An official order in this regard will be in effect starting June 1.

The walled city area in Jaipur has accounted for the most number of novel coronavirus cases in all of Rajasthan. Curfew was first imposed in the walled city area on March 26 to prevent further spread of Covid-19.

Two months later, the curfew is all set to be lifted as confirmed cases in the state surpass 8,000 on May 31.

Jaipur administration has identified 23 areas, around places where Covid-19 patients were detected. Only these areas in the walled city will be placed under curfew from June 1 onwards.

However, modes of public transport, including buses, rickshaw, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, and cabs will not be allowed to ply in the walled city area once the revised guidelines kick in on Monday. Establishments such as salons, shops, barber shops, and spas in the walled city will also remain closed for the time being along with stalks, tea kiosks, juice and chaat outlets.
