Reportedly, the men were in the river to fish. However, a sudden increase in the river's flow due to heavy rains led to the men getting stranded in the river.

An Indian Air Force helicopter was immediately pressed into service to rescue the men. The IAF chopper made attempts to rescue the men but was initially unable to do so.

Two of the four men somehow managed to swim to the river's bank and to safety. However, the two other men were unable to reach the bank and instead swam to a pier attached to one of the pillars of bridge being constructed over the Tawi river.

Dramatic visuals from the river side showed the men sitting on the pier with water gushing all around them. The men have nowhere to go and an Indian Air Force helicopter soon flies in in order to rescue the stranded men.

An Indian Air Force crew member is then seen being lowered on to the pier with the help of a rope. Once on the pier, the crew member attached harnesses to the two men's bodies and attaches the harnesses to the rope.
