Many unhappy BJP MLAs in Karnataka voice their displeasure after failing to get cabinet berths

A day after Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa expanded his cabinet, dissidence amongst many MLAs who were left out has come to the fore.

Protests also erupted in different parts of Karnataka by supporters of MLAs who were left out from the cabinet.

Angara, BJP MLA from Sullia, said that his constituency was disappointed he was not made a minister.

"For the last many years, I have loyally worked for the party and its ideology. But I cannot do anything if there is no value for loyalty and principles," Chitradurga MLA GH Thippa Reddy said.

Seventeen MLAs were inducted into the cabinet on Tuesday but regional imbalances were very much present. Mysuru, Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada, which are strong bases of the BJP, have not been given any representation.

Umesh Katti, a seasoned eight-time BJP MLA from Hukkeri was disappointed too after he was kept out of the cabinet. He said that he should have become a minister as he was a senior leader. But Umesh Katti is optimistic that he will join the cabinet in the near future.

Minister V Somanna said that there will be small disagreements but the party and the high command are there to decide and development of the state is their main moto.

Likewise, minister KS Eshwarappa said that there might problems but they will be sorted soon.

"In a family, there will be some disputes. The BJP is like a family. We are all brothers," he said adding, "We also need to accommodate the disqualified MLAs of the Congress and JD(S). That is why we have set aside some seats."

The Congress, speaking to India Today TV, said that this was but expected and the situation for the new government is only going to get worse. Bhalki MLA and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Eshwar Khandre said, "Whatever the BJP sowed in Karnataka by way of Operation Kamala, they are now reaping it."
