Killers of Congress leaders shot dead in Madhya Pradesh

A joint police team of Narsinghpur and Jabalpur came across the two history-sheeters early on Monday morning, which led to an exchange of fire, in which the criminals were gunned down, a police officer told India Today.

Two history-sheeters and alleged masterminds of the twin murders of Congress leaders Raju Mishra and Kakku Punjabi in Jabalpur were killed in an encounter with the police. The encounter took place early on Monday morning on National Highway 12 under the Suatala police station in Narsinghpur district, Madhya Pradesh.

The two criminals have been identified as Vijay Yadav and Sameer Khan.

Three policemen including Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tiwari, Suakala Station House Officer Prabhat Shukla and a constable were injured in the shootout, police said.

The three injured police personnel were taken to the Narsinghpur district hospital; Vijay Yadav and Sameer Khan's bodies were also sent to the Narsinghpur district hospital for post-mortem.

Vijay Yadav and Sameer Khan had allegedly planned and executed the murders Raju Mishra and Kakku Punjabi in Jabalpur in 2017.

Vijay Yadav carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. He, along with Sameer Khan was wanted in several cases of extortion in Narsinghpur and Jabalpur.
