In a rare instance of cannibalism between big cats, an adult tigress was killed and eaten by a tiger in Kanha National Park of Madhya Pradesh. This is a fresh case of infighting reported among MP tigers.

The management of the park has said that this was a case of territorial dispute.

After probing, officials said that since the claws and canines teeth were intact, the possibility of any kind of foul play is ruled out.

The post-mortem report confirmed that the tigress was killed by a tiger.

Madhya Pradesh was declared a 'Tiger State' in 1995 when it harboured nearly 20 per cent of India's tiger population and nearly10 per cent of the world's tiger population. But, the scene has changed now.
