Mastermind behind murder of Haryana Congress member arrested in Dubai

Congress spokesperson Vikas Chaudhary was shot at in Faridabad on June 27. He later succumbed to his injuries. He was attacked while traveling in his car.

The prime accused in the murder of Congress spokesperson Vikas Chaudhary was on Saturday arrested in Dubai. Kaushal, also the mastermind of the murder case, was arrested in a joint operation by the Delhi Police Crime Branch team and the Faridabad Crime Branch team.

Congress spokesperson Vikas Chaudhary was shot at in Faridabad on June 27. He later succumbed to his injuries. He was attacked while traveling in his car.

The mastermind of the Vikas Chaudhary murder case was on Saturday arrested in Dubai. Kaushal, according to the reports, is a notorious gangster of Haryana. He had a reward Rs five lakh on his head.

Earlier, the Crime Branch of the state police had arrested four people in connection with the case including the wife and servant of gangster Kaushal.

The police said that the wife and the servant of the gangster provided weapons to two of the accused who shot Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary in his car.

"Gangster Kaushal's wife Roshni and his domestic help Naresh made available weapons to accused Vikas alias Bhalla, a resident of village Dhanwapur, and Sachin of village Kheri in Faridabad district, involved in firing along with two other persons," Haryana Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Navdeep Singh Virk said in a statement released on his Twitter account.

In July, seven people were arrested in connection with the murder of Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary. Among those arrested are Dharamjit, Naveen, Amardeep, Sunil, Suraj, Atul and Saurabh, read a statement from the police.

Chaudhary's murder had led to widespread protests, with the Congress demanding Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's resignation over rising crimes in the state.
