MK Stalin's son-in-law sends legal notice to Tamil Nadu deputy speaker

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin's son-in-law, Sabareesan Vedamurthy, has threatened to initiate legal proceedings against Tamil Nadu Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman.

R Neelakandan, counsel for Sabareesan, sent a legal notice to Jayaraman seeking unconditional apology for making defamatory statements against his client with regard to the Pollachi rape case.

The legal notice stated that the statements made by Jayaraman are utter falsehood, unfounded and scurrilous.

The statement read, "Slanderous statements have caused harm to my client's reputation and his business. My client holds no position in the DMK and he has no interest in active politics and despite knowing the same you have abused the good name of my client for political vendetta. The slanderous statements have also caused an invasion of my client's privacy resulting in mental agony and harassment."

On Monday, Pollachi Jayaraman accused Sabareesan of spreading information that his family is involved in shielding the accused in the Pollachi rape case.

Chennai police then filed FIR against the DMK chief's son-in-law for tarnishing the name of Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaram.

AIADMK IT wing head Singai Ramachandran filed a complaint on March 11 against people for spreading rumours to tarnish Jayaranam's image. Sabaraseen's name was added today.

The FIR was filed under IPC sections 153, 505(1), 469 and 471.
