Monsoons on the roll: Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh receive rainfall

According to the Meteorological Department (MeT), in the last 24 hours, some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and some of eastern Uttar Pradesh, have received rainfall. According to the latest weather bulletin, the monsoons are heading towards Ratnagiri, Solapur, Adilabad, Brahmpuri, Varanasi, going through Gorakhpur.

According to MeT, conditions are favourable for the monsoon and the rainfall is expected to take place in most parts of central Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, South Gujarat and eastern Uttar Pradesh in the next two-three days.

The monsoon rains are trying to catch up to the delay faced since June 1. Talking about the usual rainfall during the monsoons, there is a 39 per cent drop in the rainfall this season.

According to MeT, eastern Uttar Pradesh received 13 cm of rainfall in Hata, 11 cm of rainfall in Bhatpurwa, 6 cm of rainfall in Deoria, 5 cm of rainfall in Ghazipur, 5 cm of rainfall in Salempur and 3 cm of rainfall each in Araria and Ballia.

Several cities and towns in different parts of Bihar on Saturday received good rainfall as the monsoon covered the entire state, Met officials said.

The monsoon which hit Bihar's north east districts on Friday, covered the entire state on Saturday, the Patna Meteorological Centre said.

Patna received 33.0 mm of rainfall during the day between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, bringing down maximum temperature down to 32.4 degrees Celsius which is three notches below normal, Met official said.

Gaya recorded a temperature of 33.0 degrees Celsius which is three degrees below normal maximum temperature, he said.

Talking about Jharkhand, in the last 24 hours, Kurdeg received 8 cm of rainfall, while Mandar, Kolebira, Simdega and Daltonganju received 6 cm of rainfall each. Further, Latehar received 5 cm of rainfall, Bokaro received 5 cm of rainfall, Panchet received 5 cm of rainfall and Hazaribagh received 4 cm of rainfall.

Providing much-needed relief from the scorching summer, the southwest monsoon finally on Friday made onset on the Odisha coast, triggering rainfall in different parts of the state.

Satyabadi received 11 cm of rainfall, Jagatsinghpur received 11 cm of rainfall, Kantapada received 10 cm of rainfall, Raghunathpur received 10 cm of rainfall, Anandapur recorded 8 cm of rainfall.

Most of the areas in Odisha are experiencing rainfall with an average of 7 cm of rainfall being recorded in the state.

In Chattisgarh, Monsoon has been favourable as well. Rainfall of 15 cm has been recorded in Kusmi, 12 cm rainfall recorded in Arang, Nagari recorded 9 cm of rainfall, Mahasamund recorded 9 cm of rainfall, Pithora received 9 cm of rainfall, Dhamtari also recorded 9 cm of rainfall.

In Karnataka, Ankola received 20 cm rainfall, Kollur received 20 cm of rainfall, 14 cm in Gokarna, Manki received 13 cm of rainfall.

In Telangana, monsoons have made their entry in the state with Gandhari receiving 9 cm of rainfall. Further, Yellareddy received 8 cm of rainfall, Banswada received 7 cm of rainfall, Lingampet received 6 cm of rainfall.

The rainfall deficieny during June was likely to be made up in July and August, the Met Centre said.

"Farmers are advised to proceed with sowing or other agricultural activities," it added.
