Over 10,000 people affected in Assam floods, 2 dead in Nagaland

Several rivers are flowing above the danger level in both the places following incessant rainfall. Floodwaters have submerged over 100 villages in Nagaon, Hojai, Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts.

Over 10,000 people affected in Assam floods, 2 dead in Nagaland
The Kopili, Dhansiri and Diphu rivers in Assam flowing above danger level mark flooded many places in the state.

Over 10,000 people have been affected in the floods in Assam and two people have died in Nagaland floods after it rained heavily for over 72 hours.

Several rivers are flowing above the danger level in both the places following incessant rainfall. Floodwaters have submerged over 100 villages in Nagaon, Hojai, Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts.

According to the district administration, the water level of Kopili, Dhansiri and Diphu rivers is flowing above danger level mark at many places.

The affected people were forced to leave their houses and take shelter in safer places. The floodwaters also submerged croplands in the flood-affected districts.

Meanwhile, the district administration had set up several flood relief camps.

Ninety people had lost their lives in the last devastating flood in the state and over 57 lakh people of 32 out of 33 districts in the state were affected.

Moreover, two people died by drowning in Nagaland’s Dimapur area after overflowing Dhansiri and Diphu rivers submerged several colonies, villages in the area.

As many as 17 villages and several colonies in Dimapur district have been affected in the flood.
