Jharkhand has become lynching factory, says Ghulam Nabi Azad as he attacks BJP

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad tables the Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 in the lower house of Parliament. The fresh amendment will replace the ordinance issued in March and also proposes a number of stiff penalties for violation of norms. Meanwhile, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad attacked the ruling government over the Jharkhand lynching, saying that the state has become a lynching factory. He also lauded the Congress-led governments for promoting communal harmony. Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Chowdhury compared PM Modi with a "gandi naali" but later apologised to his comments.

Humans enemies of each other in New India: Ghulam Nabi Azad

Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "In old India [during the Congress's rule], there was no hatred, anger or lynching. New India is one where humans are enemies of each other. You won't be scared of animals in a jungle but you'll be scared of humans in a colony. Give us India where Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians live for each other."

"I request you to keep the "New India" to yourself and give us our old India where there was love, culture. Hindus used to feel the pain when Muslims and Dalits used to get hurt. When something used to get into the eyes of Hindus, Muslims and Dalits used to shed tears for them," he said.

PM Modi, we are with you in the fight of 'Sabka saath sabka vikas' but it should be there for people to see it. We can't see it anywhere."

Amid protests, issue of water crisis discussed in Rajya Sabha

Amit Shah's maiden bill in Parliament today

Union minister Amit Shah on Monday will propose his first bill in the Lok Sabha today. He is expected to table the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill 2019, which will allow the government to make amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act 2004. It may be noted that extending the benefits of reservation to residents along the International Border has been a demand which has been delayed for a long time. It is expected to benefit over 3 million residents.
