Pollachi sexual abuse case: Tamil Nadu Congress leader Mayura Jayakumar appears before CB-CID
Tamil Nadu Congress's working president Mayura Jayakumar, who appeared before the CB-CID probing the Pollachi sexual harassment case, denied any link with the key accused.

Tamil Nadu Congress's working president Mayura Jayakumar on Thursday appeared before the CB-CID probing the Pollachi sexual harassment case and gave a statement denying any link with the key accused.
CB-CID issued summon to Jayakumar after the main accused Thirunavukarasu confessed that he had visited the Congress leader in Coimbatore on the day when the alleged sexual assault took place.
Speaking to India Today, Jayakumar said he has no connection with neither the accused nor his family.
"Hundreds of people come to meet me in the office and among them he could have been one. I have enquired with people in Pollachi. His father was associated with the party, when GK Vasan was in the Congress. I don't know his father Kanakaraj or Thirunavakarasu personally. In fact, only recently, after this incident, I came to know about them. I haven't met them in my office or house," he added.
On February 12, the day of the alleged incident, a felicitation ceremony was organised by the local congress functionary for Jayakumar on his appointment as working president.
Thirunavakkarasu and three others were arrested late last month in connection with the case which sent shock waves after a leaked video in which the woman was screaming and resisting her assailants went viral.
According to police, four men had allegedly tried to strip the woman inside a car near Pollachi, shot a video of the act and blackmailed her using the visuals.
Rajasekhar, a functionary from Pollachi brought cadres to the District Congress Committee office for the felicitation ceremony.
"A few of us from Pollachi went to Coimbatore to take part in the felicitation programme for Jayakumar. Kanagaraj, father of Thirunavukarasu was among one of them. Thirunavukarasu was driving the car. We felicitated Jayakumar and left the venue by 2 pm," Rajasekhar told India Today.
