Tamil Nadu: 4 men create ruckus, beat up policeman on night patrol

According to the reports, the accused men were creating ruckus on the road on the night of June 14 when they were warned and asked to disperse by the policeman, ANI reported.

A policeman was assaulted by four men in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The incident happened on June 14 in Kodambakkam area in Chennai.

The matter came to light when a video of the incident started doing the rounds on social media.

According to the reports, the accused men were creating ruckus on the road on the night of June 14 when they were warned and asked to disperse by the policeman, ANI reported.

Following which, the four accused started assaulting him.


The policeman has been identified as the head constable from Pondy Bazaar police station. In his statement, he reportedly said that he saw the men talking to a transgender person in the middle of the night.

When he asked them to go somewhere else, the four argued with him and assaulted him using his own lathi.

The head constable then alerted other policemen who arrived at the spot and took the victim to a hospital. The accused were nabbed using the CCTV footage of the area and sent to police remand.

The accused have been identified as Azhar, Mohammed Navozath, Mohamed Rizwan and Sulaiman.
