Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president KS Alagiri on Monday rebuked veteran actor Rajinikanth for praising Narendra Modi-led government for revoking Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

TNCC president KS Alagiri expressed shock at the veteran actor's stand on the matter. In a statement, KS Alagiri lamented by saying that Rajinikanth has confused spirituality with religion.

"Rajinikanth is a spiritual person. His comments on the Kashmir issue is shocking. I wonder if Rajinikanth has mistaken spirituality for religious feeling," said the TNCC president.

Alagiri went on to ask if the Central government would revoke special status in Himachal Pradesh, the Northeast region and Kodagu in Karnataka as well.

"Modi government has revoked Article 370 of Jammu and Kashmir only because it's a Muslim-dominated state," he said.

KS Alagiri further urged the veteran actor to reread the Mahabarata in order to understand the role of Lord Krishna and Arjuna.

"I wish Rajinikanth rereads the Mahabharata to understand that Amit Shah and Modi are Duryodhan and Sakuni. How can they be Lord Krishna and Arjuna when they have snatched the rights of people? " he asked.

His comments came a day after Rajinikanth called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah Lord Krishna and Arjuna.

"We don't know who is Krishna and who is Arjuna. It is only they know (Modi and Shah)," said Rajinikanth.

On August 5, two bills in the Rajya Sabha were moved to abrogate Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to split it in two Union Territories-J&K and Ladakh.
