On Sunday, DMK chief MK Stalin warned the Centre that his party will stage protests across Tamil Nadu if the Tamil language is not used in the challans.

Even, Udhaynidhi Stalin, DMK youth wing secretary, took a jibe at the state and Centre over the issue.

Sharing a picture of a traffic challan dated November 1 on Twitter, Udhayanidhi said, On the formation of Tamil Nadu day, Tamil wordings cannot be found on a traffic challan. When Amit Shah said Hindi is the national language, TN Chief Minister responded firmly that the state follows the two language policy. However, they did not tell us that the 2 language policy is actually English and Hindi."

The receipts developed by the National Informatics Centre were introduced in June this year. It came into effect after the Chennai police implemented the contactless traffic violations payment system. The challans have wordings only in English and Hindi.
