The procurement price of cow milk has been increased from Rs 28 to Rs 32 per litre while the buffalo milk will be procured at Rs 41 a litre, after an increase of Rs 6 per litre.

The milk producers had urged the government to increase the procurement price citing a rise in the price of cattle feed in the past four years. Over 4.6 lakh milk producers will benefit from the revised rates of procurement price.

Former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had last increased the prices of Aavin milk by Rs 10 per litre in 2014.
