A circular had been issued by Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan to all secretaries to government asking employees to be in office at 10 am every day.

The circular dated June 17, 2019, said, "All secretaries to government are requested to be available in their office punctually at 10 am."

The circular also adds that the same instruction may be iterated to the head of the departments (HoD) and other staff under the control of secretaries to the government.

This circular is the second notice this month given to government officials.

On June 1, the chief secretary issued a notice to officials in the secretariat asking them to wear formals to work.

Sources said that the current circular has come out after complaints that officials do not come to office on time.
