Tamil Nadu: 3 youth triple-riding on bike injured after policeman throws stick at them

Three youth triple-riding on a bike on Monday sustained injuries after a policeman hit them with his stick in an attempt to stop them at temporary vehicle checking post near Kottur in Tamil Nadu.

Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) Sambantham, who was on duty in the area, saw the three youth riding on a motorbike and tried to stop them.

As the three youth tried to escape, Sambantham allegedly threw his lathi on them which got stuck between the rear wheel spikes causing the bike to slide. The bikers sustained serious injuries.

Onlookers were outraged by Sambantham's high handedness. They helped the injured riders and took them to a nearby hospital. The witnesses even protested against the way police misbehaved with commuters in the area.

However, the crowd dispersed after higher officials promised action against the SSI Sambantham.
