Upgradation work at Jaipur railway station to impact almost 5 lakh passengers this festive season

Out of these, trains on 72 train routes have been cancelled, whereas trains on 61 have been partially cancelled. Also, trains on 29 train routes have been diverted.

Ahead of the festivals of Eid and Raksha Bandhan, lakhs of passengers will be unable to travel by trains to and from Rajasthan due to upgradation work at Jaipur railway station.

The yard remodelling work being carried out at the Jaipur railway station has led to cancellation of several trains. It shall adversely impact train travel in Rajasthan, affecting almost 5 lakh passengers.

Train journeys on 162 routes will be impacted in August due to construction work being carried out in the month.

Out of these, trains on 72 train routes have been cancelled, whereas trains on 61 have been partially cancelled. Also, trains on 29 train routes have been diverted.

"People will be affected because of this and I feel that the Railway should tell that why is this happening and because of this, some other system. Now, my work is here. I supply goods in Jaipur. My stuff goes forward from Jaipur as well," Raju Chahal, a passenger, told India Today TV.

"So, my work is going to be extremely adversely affected," Neither are they saying that parcel office will be shifted from here or something else. No release has happened from the Railway's side," he added.

Some of the train journeys that have been cancelled are on the following routes: Mumbai Central - Jaipur, Rajkot - Delhi Sarai, Ajmer - Amritsar, Porbander - Delhi Sarai, Jaipur - Lucknow, Jaipur - Chandigarh.

Trains on the following routes of Delhi Sarai - Bandra Terminus, Kolkatta - Udaipur, Delhi Sarai - Indore, Ahmedabad - Sultanpur, Bikaner - Madurai have been diverted.

Meanwhile, train journeys on the routes of Jaipur - Nagpur, Jaipur - Mathura, Jaipur - Ahmedabad, Jaipur - Hyderabad, Jaipur - Bhopal have been partially cancelled.

Much of the remodelling work will be carried out at the Jaipur railway station during this month, impacting train travel on more than 160 train routes till August 25.

"There will be extreme affect and the government should do something because people from all sections use this railway network. Railway is a very big network and I do not think that it is fine to do like this for 10, 15, 20 days. Else, the Government should do something. It is a thing of the future that people will be benefitted," the passenger said.


Work on the block started last month. However, most of it will be done in this month, due to which maximum impact on train travel will happen in the current month.

As per the rail administration, the remodelling work will be beneficial for people and that is why it has been undertaken.

Some of the trains have been cancelled for more than 10 days. Abhay Sharma, CPRO, NW Railway, told to India Today TV that train journeys on 61 routes have been partially cancelled.
