Uttarakhand govt to withdraw history's longest FIR

The longest FIR in the history which took a week to be written in Kashipur police station in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand has now been withdrawn. The FIR was filed against two hospitals in connection with the alleged Atal Ayushman Scheme scam.
The FIR, which took a week to be written, tested the acumen and patience of the police department but their hard work has gone to waste since the FIR has now been withdrawn. The withdrawal of the FIR has posed serious questions on the working of the state government.
An FIR was registered after Munidev Vishnoi, a resident of Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district, filed a public interest petition in the high court alleging manipulation of data relating to the patients in a bid to extract the insurance cover which was promised in the scheme.
Munidev Vishnoi had also alleged that the software of the Central government's Atal Ayushman Scheme was being rigged by referring the relatives and acquaintances of one particular patient who were all treated and operated for similar illness in various private hospitals.
Taking cognizance of the matter, an inquiry committee was formed to probe the irregularities. The chief medical officer of Udham Singh Nagar was also included in the inquiry committee and close to half a dozen private hospitals in Kashipur area were removed from the Atal Ayushman Yojana list. Cases were also filed against the owners of the hospitals. The state government had then won accolades for their timely and detailed action.
