As Gujarat and nearby coastal areas continue to deal with heavy winds and rainfall due to the impact of Cyclone Vayu, rescue teams are more than alert to handle any crisis.

A chilling video shared by news agency ANI showed the man battling the heavy current and waves as he keeps getting swept away. In no time, the Indian Coast Guard team rescued the man. The man was sitting by the Cabo de Rama beach in Goa when he was swept away by strong waves.

Earlier, weather department predicted heavy rainfall in Goa due to Cyclone Vayu, prompting the authorities to close the shoreline for swimming.

In great relief, the IMD on Thursday confirmed Cyclone Vayu has changed its course and will not to make landfall in Gujarat, but it will cause heavy rain in several coastal districts of the state.

Though it will not make landfall, it can cause damage and all the warnings for rainfall, ports and fishermen stay, the IMD said.

Heavy rains which lashed the coastal areas were likely to continue, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

"The cyclone is likely to move north-northwestwards for some time and then northwestwards, skirting the Saurashtra coast (and) affecting Gir Somnath, Diu, Junagarh, Porbandar and Devbhoomi Dwarka with a wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph during the next 12 hours," the IMD said in a statement.
