West Bengal: BJP supporter shot dead in Birbhum

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporter was shot dead in Nanoor in Birbhum district of West Bengal on Monday. The saffron party supporter was allegedly shot dead in the TMC-BJP conflict in Birbhum.

Sankari Bagdi, a 47-year-old BJP supporter, was a resident of Hatsarandi village under Nanoor Police Station in Birbhum.

Uday, Sankari Bagdi's son had a fight with their neighbour Aditya Bagdi who is a supporter of the Trinamool Congress. In the course of the fight, TMC workers of the area gathered at their place with bombs and arms.

The groups engaged in a fierce tussle in the midst of which one of the TMC workers started firing which hit Sankari Bagdi, resulting in her death.

It has been reported that six other BJP supporters have also been injured in the clashes.

Police have recovered the dead body and investigations are going on regarding the matter. No one has yet been arrested in the incident.

Shyamapada Mondal, Birbhum district president of BJP, said, "They are our supporters. TMC workers have plotted against them and have killed her."

Local TMC leaders have denied the party's involvement in this case.
