Bombs were hurled in front of BJP MP Arjun Singh's residence at Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses also reported bullets being fired throughout the night outside the MP's residence.

According to reports, some unidentified miscreants hurled bombs just outside Mazdoor Bhavan in Bhatpara, Arjun Singh's residence.

The incident took place when the chairman of BJP-run Bhatpara municipality Saurav Singh was heading towards his nephew MP Arjun Singh's residence.

Even as he escaped the attack, Sourav Singh alleged that a few anti-social elements tried to hackle him. Sourav Singh also said that the Trinamool Congress goons were behind the attack and had an intention to kill him. However, his personal security guard and CISF personnel, deputed for Arjun Singh's security, rescued him, Saurav claimed.

He identified the miscreants as Promod Singh, Sanjay Singh, Naomit Singh, Ranjit Singh, Hari Gobind Singh and a few others. Saurav Singh filed a complaint against the miscreants at Jagaddal police station.

Acting on the complaint, Barrackpur Police Commissioner Manoj Kumar Verma launched an investigation and conducted search operations in the area.

However, on Thursday morning, the BJP workers staged a protest at Ghosh Para road near Shyamnagar railway station to demand an immediate arrest for those involved in the alleged attack on Saurav Singh.

Meanwhile, the area near MP Arjun Singh's house continues to be tense. The police have been conducting patrols to ensure peace.

During the overnight investigation on Wednesday, the police found crude bombs near the house. Police cordoned the area and defused the bombs.

The CCTV footage of the incident shows a few people moving around the legislator's residence but bombs or bullets have not been captured on the camera.

Police are tight-lipped on the issue and no arrests have been made so far.
