Today is the day for the Vande Bharat Express. Also known as train 18, Vande Bharat Express has been flagged off today by the home minister Amit Shah, who called is as a big gift for Jammu and Kashmir's development. The first commercial run from Delhi to Katra will be done on October 5, 2019. The booking is open on the official website of IRCTC. As per reports, the train will bring down the travel time between Delhi and Katra by 8 to 12 years.

Vande Bharat Express: Ticket prices

The fare for traveling between New Delhi to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra will be the following:

  • Minimum: Rs 1,630
  • Maximum: Rs 3,015

Vande Bharat Express: Facilities provided

  • The train will have 16 coaches, fully air-conditioned.
  • It is an engine-less self-propelled trainset which allows for faster acceleration and deceleration.
  • Due to this, time travel will be reduced by 40 percent
  • The train has windows with a special provision to protect against stone-pelting and a cattle guard in the front to prevent damage to the train or derailment in case of cattle run.
  • The train is equipped with wi-fi, bio vaccum toilets, GPS-based infotainment system, CCTV surveillance.

Vande Bharat Express: Days of run

  • The train will operate six days from New Delhi except on Tuesday and is numbered 22439.
  • The train will also operate six days from Katra except on Tuesday and is numbered 22440.

About the Vande Bharat Express:

Train number 22439 New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express will depart from the New Delhi railway station at 6 am to reach Katra at 2 pm. The train will run on all days of the week except Tuesdays.

En route, the train will halt at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana and Jammu Tawi for two minutes each. On the return journey the same day, train number 22440 Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express will leave from the Katra railway station at 3 pm to reach the New Delhi railway station at 11 pm.
