22 go missing, 2K pilgrims stranded in Uttarakhand

The local administration has issued a warning to all the pilgrims travelling to Badrinath Temple and the yatra was stopped after heavy rainfall triggered landslides in Uttarakhand. More than 2,000 yatris got stranded in Badrinath after the landslides.

Joshimath, Kangchenjunga, Hanuman Chatti, Lambagar and Pandukeshwar are the worst-affected areas.

Three people were killed and nearly 22 went missing as heavy rains lashed Uttarakhand on Sunday. Chamoli's DM Swati Bhadauriya told India Today TV, "We have stopped the yatra for the safety of the pilgrims, we are trying our best to clear the National Highway but we can only work after the rain stops."

"All the pilgrims are safe in Badrinath Dham. We have stopped the yatras in Govind Ghat, Pandukeshwar and Lambagar. We have made special arrangements in Lambagar and 300 people will be moved there," she added.
