After a spell of bright and sunny mornings for a week, it started raining and snowing in Uttarakhand.

The reason for the sudden change is the interaction between the monsoon and the western disturbance, which is gradually shifting towards Uttarakhand slowly.

IMD director Bikram Singh said this will result in moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places, especially in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, in the next 36 hours.

Apart from heavy rain, it started snowing in the areas surrounding Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

Due to the continuing rainfall in Kedar valley, the devotees are finding it difficult to complete their pilgrimage.

Most of the rivers in the state are flowing in high current and this poses a serious threat to the lives of those living nearby.

Uttarakhand SDRF Inspector-General Sanjay Gunjyal has said that all the teams are ready to help in case of any mishap.
