Letter bomb hits Delhi Congress: Sheila Dikshit's son blames PC Chacko for her death

A section of Delhi Congress leaders on Friday demanded party in-charge PC Chacko's removal, accusing him of leaking a personal letter written by Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. In a press conference, party leaders Mangat Ram Singhal, Kiran Walia and Delhi Congress spokespersons Ramakant Goswami and Jitender Kochar also levelled allegations of corruption against PC Chacko and demanded Congress president Sonia Gandhi to form a committee to probe the matter.

The infighting within the Congress camp as contents of the letter written by Sandeep Dikshit to PC Chacko came to fore. According to Congress sources, in his letter, Sandeep Dikshit held PC Chacko responsible for the ill health and death of his mother and former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit.

Sandeep Dikshit raised certain matters which he didn't want to divulge. He said that the letter was not a legal notice and was addressed to PC Chacko in person.

After PC Chacko said he had shared the letter with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Sandeep Dikshit said he didn't know why Chacko was trying to drag her in it. In response, Chacko said, "I don't want to disclose what is written in the letter. I thought it is appropriate to send it to the Congress president."

He said, "Sandeep Dikshit can't tell me what I should do and what I shouldn't do." When asked whether the letter mentioned if PC Chacko was responsible for Sheila Dikshit's ill health, the Congress leader said, "You don't know what is written in the letter - I found it fit to send it to Sonia Gandhi."

The letter comes months after Sheila Dikshit's demise. PC Chacko had had a bitter war of words with Dikshit in her last days. Sheila Dikshit was said to be upset with Chacko for allegedly making media statements about her leadership and illness.

She had also denied receiving a letter from Chacko which was leaked to the media. In the said letter, Chacko had questioned why Sheila Dikshit had dissolved all committees after Lok Sabha poll debacle and asked her why she was not receiving any calls.

In a press conference held in the evening, senior leaders of the party said they want an inquiry into the matter. They have alleged Chacko was also involved in corruption within the party.

"PC Chacko should resign giving ode to Sheila Dikshit," said Rohit Manchanda, while Jitender Kochar, another party leader, said, "The high-command should remove Chacko."

"The letter was leaked by Chacko who claimed that it was a political letter. We demand formation of a committee to probe his role as AICC incharge of Delhi Congress," said party leader Mangat Ram Singhal.
