The new flyover has missed six deadlines. It will be built near the Munirka metro station and descends at the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Dhaula Kuan.

Once opened, commuters from South Delhi areas like Greater Kailash, Hauz Khas, and also Noida will be able to avoid the busy Outer Ring Road and reach the IGI Airport.

Even today, people driving towards the IGI Airport and Gurugram crawl past stalled traffic at this point. The old RTR flyover proved inadequate to deal with the average movement of 2 lakh vehicles pass the point every day.

The commuters struggle for up to an hour to cross the area with office hours being a nightmare for those stuck in the mess. But the flyover is expected to reduce 20 per cent of the existing traffic between Hauz Khas and the airport and cut travel time by 15-20 minutes. The flyover faced a delay of almost three years.
