Close to a month of incessant forest fire in Champani Village in Pauri district of Uttarakhand has created problems for the pilgrims who are visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath.

The situation is even worse for the residents of the area as the fire has become so severe that it is now trying to engulf the nearby areas.

While no major casualties have been reported yet, the entire ecosystem has taken a big hit as the blaze has destroyed the floral surrounding which along with many animals. It also shows the failure of the state administration as they have struggled to extinguish a fire for almost four weeks now despite taking several measures to control the fire. When India Today TV spoke to the forest minister of the state, Harak Singh Rawat, he said they understand the gravity of the situation and will succeed in extinguishing the fire soon.

"The state government sees it as a very serious issue and we are confident of controlling the forest fire very soon," he told India Today TV. "We will investigate the matter that who is actually responsible for it. Actually, the forest fire is increasing every year which is not good for wild animals also. It is also bad for the people living nearby and the tourists visiting the state for Chardham Yatra," he added.

As the fire grows out of control, the local hospitals are also seeing an increase in the number of patients due to different kinds of health hazards.

The haze from the fire has also led to an increase in the temperature in the entire state while locals are runare choking in the smoke from the fire.
