Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav is set to contest in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, becoming the second prominent leader from the India Alliance to do so, following Rahul Gandhi. Yadav will file his nomination from Connaughts, the perfume capital of India, a seat he has previously won and a Samajwadi Party stronghold.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Wednesday, accused the Congress party of attempting to introduce reservations for Muslims, even in the Armed Forces, through backdoor means. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also accused the Congress of reducing the quota for the OBCs in Karnataka by placing Muslim castes in the same category, and claimed that it plans to replicate this across the country. Congress hit back by saying the BJP is trying to rake up old issues. This episode of India First focusses on whether the OBCs are denied their due for Muslim appeasement, as claimed by the BJP.
