Commuters at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata were in for a surprise on the eve of Independence Day as a flash mob presented a dance performance to commemorate the occasion. In a video made available on Facebook, a group of young passengers unfurled the Tricolour and danced to Teri Mitti from Akshay Kumar's Kesari at the airport.

Soon, a crowd gathered and cheered for the flash mob that put up a memorable performance ahead of India's 73rd Independence Day.

Within hours of being made available online, the video has garnered almost 8,000 likes and shared 13,000 times so far. Netizens watched the clip on loop and praised the flash mob for their performance in the comments section.

"Happy Independence day to all. Feeling proud to be an Indian. Well done all of my brothers and sisters," read a comment while another user said, "This is amazing. Vande mataram!" Pankaj Pandey, a Facebook user, mentioned that he watched the performance at the Kolkata airport in person.

"Was lucky enuf to witness this...started exactly the moment i collected my boarding pass," he wrote in the comments section.

Independence Day celebrations commenced in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisting the Tricolour at Red Fort on August 15. While addressing the nation, PM Modi spoke on several subjects including Jammu and Kashmir, armed forces, water conservation and floods in several states.
