There's a fictitious killer loose on the streets of Indianapolis. It's up to you to suss out the murderer from a crowded field of suspects, pin down the murder weapon and save the Circle City.

Are you up to the task?

You and up to five of your friends will have the chance to put your Sherlock sleuthing skills to the test when CluedUpp, the world's first outdoor murder-mystery event that takes place across an entire city, comes to Indianapolis from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11.

CluedUpp, a Britain-based organization that has hosted mystery events around the world, bills the event as a "giant, real-life version of the board game Clue."

Can you catch the killer at the Indianapolis Detective Day event that will turn the city's streets into a giant Clue board this May?

The Indianapolis edition of the game is entitled "Sneaky Finders," and CluedUpp promises "money, crime, power and enemies from all walks of life." Teams of detectives will stalk the streets tracking down witnesses and sniffing out clues in an effort to pinpoint who poisoned one of the most feared people in Millingham, a fictitious industrial town near Indianapolis.

The event takes place across the Mile Square, and teams can start their sleuthing between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with a deadline of 5 p.m. CluedUpp said it typically takes between one and four hours to solve the crime, with the average sleuth squad clocking in at 2 hours and 20 minutes.

The cost is $46 per team, which can include between two and six adults — kids 16 and under are free and don't count toward team numbers. You'll also need to have at least one smartphone in the group, as the game unfolds via the CluedUpp app.

Costumes are encouraged at Indianapolis Detective Day. The year is 1921, so think flapper dresses, bow ties, suspenders and feather boas.

CluedUpp has also turned the clock back to 1921, so don your best '20s-inspired flapper dresses, suspenders, bow ties and feather boas.

Prizes will be awarded to the fastest team, best-dressed team, best kid detective and best K-9 (dog) detective. Groups will also be recognized for the best team picture and best team name.

More than 150,000 detectives have attended the CluedUpp detective days around the world and have solved more than 200 different murders.

While Hoosiers have rushed around downtown in a race against the clock (Monumental Marathon), mid-day hunger pangs (lunchtime Chipotle run) or even ninjas ("American Ninja Warrior" trials on Monument Circle last spring), this mystery will be more of a careful crawl, leaving no scooter or streetpost unturned.

Sure, you can sprint past the Soldiers and Sailors Monument.

But can you solve your hometown homicide?

The game is afoot.
