'Hamilton,' Elton John and more: Here are 10 arts events coming to Indianapolis this fall

Fall in Indiana means visits to pumpkin patches, winding through corn mazes and of course, plenty of football games. But we might be even more excited about all of the concerts, musicals and more hitting Indianapolis in the coming months.

Here are 10 of the best arts events you can see in the Circle City this fall.

1. Hamilton

Broadway fans have been buzzing since it was announced "Hamilton" would be coming to Indianapolis. The musical all about "young, scrappy and hungry" statesman Alexander Hamilton will be at Old National Centre Dec. 10-29. And don't worry, you haven't thrown away your shot to see the Tony Award-winning show ⁠— there's still a chance to buy tickets.

2. Elton John's farewell tour

Oct. 26, Banker's Life Fieldhouse, 125 S. Pennsylvania St.

Elton John will perform Oct. 25, 2019, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

By the end of Elton John's farewell tour, he will have made more than 300 stops across five different continents  — including a visit to Banker's Life Fieldhouse on Oct. 26. Tickets to see the "Rocket Man" himself can be bought by visiting ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-982-2787.

3. An Evening with John Cleese

Nov. 14, The Palladium, 1 Center Green, Carmel

Legendary comic actor John Cleese (Monty Python, "Fawlty Towers") will tell stories from his life and career to the Palladium audience on Nov. 14, 2019.

The "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" star will stop by the The Palladium in Carmel on Nov. 14, where he'll share stories and memories from his more than 50 years in the world of comedy. Purchase tickets by visiting thecenterpresents.org

4. 'Cinematic Symphony: A Spotlight on ISO'

Nov. 1-2, Hilbert Circle Theatre, 45 Monument Cir.

This fall, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is highlighting some of its most accomplished musicians during "Cinematic Symphony: A Spotlight on ISO." Led by maestro Jack Everly, these concerts will shine the spotlight on individual artists within the orchestra, as they play music from some of your favorite films. 5. 'Women Sublime: The Feminine Point of View'

Oct. 17-20, Indiana Repertory Theatre, 140 W. Washington St.

"Women Sublime: The Feminine Point of View" is being created by three female choreographers. The show will be performed Oct. 17-20 at the Indiana Repertory Theatre.

When David Hochoy, artistic director of Dance Kaleidoscope, learned 80% of ballets in the U.S. were created by men, he wanted to take action — which is why this October, the contemporary dance company will produce a show completely choreographed by women. Called "Women Sublime: The Feminine Point of View," all routines in the show will be created by female choreographers Kiesha Lalama, Cynthia Pratt and Mariel Greenlee. 6. 'Twelve Angry Men'

Catch this classic 1950s courtroom drama this season at Indiana Repertory Theatre. Try to keep up as a jury decides whether a teen is guilty of stabbing his abusive father. Tickets can be bought at irtlive.com or by calling 317-635-5252.

7. 'Vino Veritas'

Oct. 24-Nov. 24, Phoenix Theatre, 705 N. Illinois St.

It all starts with a special bottle of wine that some close friends drink on Halloween night. What follows next, well, none of them expected. Catch this dark comedy at the Phoenix Theatre Oct. 24-Nov. 24. Get tickets at phoenixtheatre.org or by calling 317-635-7529.

8. 'The Brothers Paranormal'

Oct. 11-Nov. 3, Fonseca Theatre, 2508 W. Michigan St.

With a mission to highlight minority communities in Indianapolis, Fonseca Theatre's inaugural season features a variety of shows that encourage conversations about diversity and equality. This fall, the west side theater will host a run of 'The Brothers Paranormal,' which follows two Thai-American brothers as they launch their own ghost-hunting business. 9. Lillias White

Oct. 11-12, The Cabaret, 924 N. Pennsylvania St. Suite B

You might know Lillias White from her performances in "Cats," "Dreamgirls" and yes, even "Sesame Street." This Tony and Emmy winner will be gracing the stage for two nights at the Cabaret this October. 10. 'Immigrants and the Golden Age of Hollywood'

Oct. 19-20, Schrott Center for the Arts, 610 W. 46th St.

During the early 20th century, many musicians who came to the U.S. from Europe found themselves in Hollywood, becoming some of the first to contribute to the Golden Age." The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra will celebrate these pioneers during its 2019-20 season with "Immigrants and the Golden Age of Hollywood," which will feature a brand-new composition about the immigration experience at Ellis Island.
