Two more Indianapolis-area locations of Pittsburgh-based Primanti Bros. sandwich shop have closed.

Both the Avon and Greenwood locations closed Tuesday, a company spokesperson confirmed. They follow the closure of the Noblesville location early last year.

That leaves the Downtown shop on Maryland Street as the only remaining Indianapolis-area Primanti Bros. location. The spokesperson said that location plans to remain open.

Primanti Bros. was founded in the early 1930s in Pittsburgh by Joe Primanti, who served sandwiches to truckers working overnight, according to the company's website.

The chain is known for sandwiches stacked high with meat, cheese, cole slaw, french fries and tomatoes between thick slices of Italian bread.
