Alan Jackson will provide country soundtrack for NRA convention in Indianapolis

Country music is a traditional element of the National Rifle Association's annual convention, and a Hall of Famer is performing as part of this year’s gathering in Indianapolis.

Alan Jackson — known for the songs “Gone Country,” “Chattahoochee” and “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” — will headline an April 27 concert at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Supporting act William Michael Morgan also will perform. The 148th NRA Annual Meetings are scheduled April 26-28. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are scheduled to speak at the convention.

The gathering of gun-rights proponents attracted more than 75,000 people to Indianapolis when the city served as the site of the 2014 NRA convention.

Jackson previously sang at the 2015 NRA convention in Nashville. He performed at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in February 2018.

The NRA presents music events through NRA Country, described by the organization as “a vast community of hard-working Americans and popular music artists who celebrate freedom, love of country and an outdoor way of life.”

This year's NRA Country showcase has a higher profile than the 2014 concert in Indianapolis. Five years ago, country singers Joe Nichols and Jerrod Niemann performed at Crane Bay Event Center.

The Charlie Daniels Band, Travis Tritt and Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers performed at the 2018 NRA convention in Dallas.

Tickets for the April 27 Jackson show at Lucas Oil Stadium, $29.95 to $122.50, are available at NRAAM.org. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
