Big Ten fans wait in line for Kilroy's Bar and Grill during the Meijer Tail Greater event on Georgia St. for the Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis Ind. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017.

Put away the parkas, break out the shorts and throw an umbrella in your bag.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 59 degrees for Saturday, a welcome break from the chilly teens that iced the city this week.

That's warm, but still 10 degrees lower than the record temperature of 70 degrees for Dec. 1, set in 1970, according to the NWS. The average high temperature for a day in December is 38.9 degrees.

But there's a catch.

The NWS predicts rain all day, with morning showers turning to evening thunderstorms, and wind gusts as high as 25 mph (so, on second thought, maybe ditch that umbrella for a rain coat). The NWS is forecasting a marginal risk for severe weather, with lightning, hail and flooding all possible. Rainfall accumulation could be up to an inch.

Sunday will be slightly cooler (hey, we'll take it!) and breezy, with a high near 54 degrees. And, unlike Saturday, the sun will be shining for most of the day, with a 20 percent chance of rain after 1 p.m.

Monday drops the mercury back to the mean, with a high near 41 and a slight chance of morning snow. Tuesday through Friday, temps return to the low 20s and low 30s.

So enjoy it while it lasts.
