'I am young and cool': Seth Meyers crashed on electric scooter while visiting Indianapolis

Seth Meyers performs at the Stand Up For Heroes benefit concert in New York City on Nov. 5.

Comedian and host Seth Meyers spent the weekend in Indianapolis, and had an unsuccessful interaction with one of the city's ever-present electric scooters.

The Northwestern University alum said during Monday night's episode of "Late Night" that he attended the Big Ten Football Championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium between Northwestern and Ohio State.

Meyers said despite the Northwestern loss, he had a great time in Indianapolis and praised it as a host city.

But one low point of the trip? His decision to hop on an electric scooter for the first time while walking Downtown.

"I pretty immediately after doing that fell off the scooter and hurt myself pretty badly," Meyers said. "Making it all the worse was five minutes before I fell off my scooter, I sent an iPhone video to my wife saying of me on the scooter saying, and these were my exact words: 'Look at me, I am young and cool.'"

Meyers said he hit the pavement in a pretty public place, and others in the area groaned in agony as he fell.

"And then I did that thing when you fall and you're embarrassed," he said. "So I got up right away and started walking to show everybody I was fine. But the gait that I had made it very clear that i was not fine."

Meyers said he hurt his wrist while falling. Making matter worse was the fact that he spent a lot of the trip after his crash running into old friends from college and having to shake hands at every greeting.

"I was in a situation where I could have said, 'I can't shake your hand. I hurt my wrist,'" he said. "But then that would lead to the next question (of) what happened to your wrist. I then I'd have to say I fell off a scooter."
