Comcast service restored in Indianapolis after widespread outage

Update: Comcast service has been restored throughout much of Indianapolis after a widespread outage caused connection issues for thousands of customers.

On Thursday, Downdetector charts showed just 10 reported outages as of 5:56 a.m.

The number of reported outages in Indianapolis peaked with more than 9,400 around 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to Downdetector.

Information about what caused the outages has not been released. 

Comcast outage maps incident that some customers may still be having connection issues. IndyStar has reached out to Comcast for more information.

Earlier: Thousands of Comcast customers in Indianapolis are experiencing connection issues.

According to Downdetector, more than 16,000 Comcast outages were reported as of 3:45 p.m.

Data from Downdetector indicated more than 7,000 Comcast issues in Indianapolis just after 3:30 p.m.

More than 7,500 of those were in Indianapolis.

Comcast experienced widespread outages in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

The status center on Comcast's website would not load as of 4 p.m. But shortly after 4 p.m., some customers saw their connection restored.
