2 men dead in separate shootings Saturday night in Indianapolis

Two people were killed in separate shootings Saturday night — one on the city's west side and one Downtown.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police were called to the corner of South Meridian and South streets, nearthe Slippery Noodle Inn, around 1:30 a.m. Officers found an adult male who had been shot, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 11 p.m. police were called to the 500 block of North Traub Avenue. Officers found an adult male who had been shot. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police said, where he died from his injuries.

Eric Middlebrook, 30, was later arrested in relation to the downtown shooting and taken to the Marion County Jail. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a decision on charges.

Police believe the Downtown shooting was an isolated incident.

Both investigations are ongoing. Homicide detectives canvassed both areas for witnesses, police said.

The Marion County Coroner will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The MCCO will release the name of the victim once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
