Man, woman killed in shooting on west side of Indianapolis, police say

A man and a woman are dead following a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis, police say.

Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Lafayette Road just after 3 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man and a woman who had been shot.

They were transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Michael Hewitt said. The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victims Tuesday as 26-year-old Miles Cross and 25-year-old Shainita Caffey. 

No information about the shooter is available at this time, Hewitt said.
