Indianapolis crime: Woman found dead in north-side alley

Indianapolis police are investigating after a woman was found dead Sunday morning in a north-side alley.

Shortly before 9:45 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West 26th Street in reference a person down in the alley. First responders found the woman, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

IMPD detectives were unable to identify any immediate signs of trauma on the woman, police said. The woman's name has not been released.

Homicide detectives began canvassing the area for witnesses, police said. The Marion County Coroner is working to determine the woman's manner and cause of death.
