IMPD investigating body found on sidewalk on west side
Indianapolis police are investigating after a man was found dead on a west side sidewalk Wednesday morning.
The body was discovered near North Centennial and West Michigan streets about 7 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Aaron Hamer said.
The Marion County coroner's office identified the man as Dejuan Burruss, 27.
Detectives at the scene said they think Burruss was near a car when he was likely shot. He crossed the street then fell to the ground.
Blood spatter was visible on the rear bumper of a gold car not far from the body. One of the car doors was found open.
Hamer said detectives think Burruss may have been killed about 3 a.m. He urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers 317-262-TIPS.
